Student author Olivia Shread, author of From Ice to Paradise, recently demonstrated this through her service in the Central Florida community. Mentored by teacher, illustrator, and children's book author Peter Raymundo, Olivia continues to grow as both a writer and a leader, using her voice to inspire others.

This past weekend, Olivia partnered with Embrace Celebration to serve families along the 192 corridor in Kissimmee. She assisted with organizing food, setting up at local hotels, and connecting with families in need. As part of her outreach, Olivia distributed 50 copies of her book, read her story to children, and personally autographed each copy, creating a meaningful and memorable experience for those she served.

Experiences like this reflect the values of an International Baccalaureate (IB) education, where service learning, leadership, and real-world engagement are essential. Students are encouraged to take initiative, reflect on their impact, and contribute positively to both local and global communities. Olivia’s work exemplifies the values of IB by demonstrating compassion, leadership, and a commitment to service. Through experiences like this, students grow as communicators, risk-takers, and caring individuals who understand the importance of using their talents to serve others.
